MUSIC & DANCE CAMP
Welcome to Westwind
The Salem Folklore Community will host its 34th annual Westwind Weekend Music & Dance Camp May 1, 2, & 3, 2020 at beautiful Camp Westwind on the Oregon Coast.
Come join us for two nights and two days of music, dancing and community in an incomparably beautiful setting on the wild Oregon coast.
Westwind Weekend is an all-volunteer weekend where campers (that’s you) bring their music & dancing talents to create the magic. Expect two evenings of dance, including family dances, contra, Scandinavian, and swing. Expect a campers’ concert Saturday night, music jams all day and into the night (Irish, old-time, swing and more). And take plenty of time to walk on the beach, dig in the sand, and hike to the high meadow.
Camp Westwind is located just north of Lincoln City and just south of Cascade Head. The camp is accessed only by boat across the Salmon River. Timing for the crossings depends of the timing of high tides. Check the "Updates" section at top right for info on times of arrival and departure from camp.
Registration and Updates for 2020
Registration for Westwind Weekend 2020 begins in February. Registrations should be postmarked no sooner than February 23rd, and will be accepted in order of their postmark date. Click here to download a PDF of the registration form. For more info contact Alan Kanaskie at firstname.lastname@example.org or Jana Rygas at email@example.com.
Arrival and departure this year (2020). On Friday evening the tide will be rising, so arrival will be either by barge or walking in the camp road, depending on when you arrive. On Sunday, most people will depart by walking out on the camp road (a very pleasant, flat walk). All luggage and gear will be transported by the camp truck to the parking areas.
